Dr Yasmine Lau headshot
I am a Clinical Psychologist in South London, registered with the Heath and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
I have worked in the NHS since 2014 within various clinical settings, across the lifespan. For example, I have worked within Eating Disorders inpatient and outpatient settings, Forensic inpatient services, Paediatric and Adult Health services, specialist Trauma services for refugees, asylum seekers, victims of war and torture with complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Perinatal services, Community Mental Health services, including Neuro-Rehabilitation and Older Adult Services.
As a result of my experiences, I have worked with a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety (generalised anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Complex PTSD and PTSD), low mood, low self-esteem, adjustment to life events, health issues (such as cancer, diabetes, COPD, heart conditions, renal), perinatal difficulties, bereavement, stress and burnout, eating issues, difficulties with sleep and phobias.
I have further worked within children’s services. Working with parents, schools and the wider family to understand the system that the child is in in order to address some of their mental health difficulties. In addition to this, I have worked within the peri and post-natal period with mothers and fathers who experience stress, post-natal depression, birth trauma and postnatal psychosis.
I strongly believe in cultivating a compassionate and non-judgemental space in which we work together to understand your current difficulties. I draw upon current evidence-based practice to work collaboratively with children and their families or adults individually to deliver personalised treatment plans. We will work to understand what has led you to therapy, what keeps the problems going at times and building on your strengths to work towards goals and create meaningful changes.
My skills include training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and third-wave therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). In addition to narrative and systemic approaches.
I see clients online as well as at the Circle Psychology Partners consulting rooms at Oru Space East Dulwich.
