Dr Iona Schloessingk-Monastesse

I am a Clinical Psychologist based in South London and registered with the Health Care Professionals
Council (HCPC). I have worked in the NHS since 2013, and in my current role as a Clinical Psychologist
since 2020. I have worked with clients experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low
mood, trauma and personality difficulties, in a variety of NHS settings, including community, hospital
and prison.

In my work, I use an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach to provide a safe and containing
therapeutic space. I am trained in a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema
Therapy, and I like to draw on a variety of therapeutic models to support each person’s individual
needs.

Coming to therapy can be a daunting experience, and I aim to provide a space in which my clients
can feel safe and comfortable to make sense of their difficulties. This may be through thinking about
patterns in the here-and-now, or through exploring the past experiences which have contributed to
their current difficulties. I also believe it is important to recognise the way in which our social and
cultural environment shapes the way we experience the world, and in particular to acknowledge the
impact of inequality and discrimination on mental distress. I offer a compassionate and non-
judgmental approach, and value each individual as the expert in their own experience.

I see clients online as well as at the Circle Psychology Partners consulting rooms at Oru Space East Dulwich.
