Headshot Dr Brownlee

I am Dr Hannah Brownlee, a Clinical Psychologist with eight years’ experience working with people with a range of emotional, relational and behavioural difficulties in the NHS and charity sector.

I offer support to young people, adults, and their networks from a variety of backgrounds, placing particular importance on developing safe and strong therapeutic relationships with my clients. My training means I am skilled to provide a variety of evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Psychodynamic psychotherapy. I consider myself an Integrative practitioner, which means I draw on a variety of different therapeutic models according to each person’s unique needs and wishes.

I can support you in making sense of, and helping to overcome, a range of difficulties you might be experiencing that are getting in the way of you living the life you want. This could include anxiety problems, phobias, self-esteem, low mood, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation and unusual experiences. However, rather than working with diagnoses or labels, I prefer to develop a shared, holistic understanding of your situation together when we meet. I have experience working in several NHS settings, such as Improving Access to Psychological Therapy Services, Forensic Services and Complex Mental Health Services.

I work in a trauma-informed way, which means I consider any previous difficult life, family, or relationship experiences as key in understanding your current problems. The belief that present difficulties begin as ways of coping with, or solutions to, prior adverse life events is the foundation to my practice. I consider a client’s sense of safety my priority in our therapy, and I make any necessary adaptations to facilitate this.

I am registered with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) as a practitioner psychologist, and I practice in accordance with the standards of the HCPC and the BPS. I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training.

I see clients online as well as in East Dulwich consulting rooms.
