I am a doctor of counselling psychology and psychotherapy. I have been working in the field of psychology since 2007 and in private practice since 2012. I work with young people and adults on a one-to-one basis. My integrative model allows me to draw on a varied range of psychological perspectives and tailor treatment plans to meet your individual needs.
My integrative model follows a developmental-relational way of working and holds the beliefs that our past and present remain in constant dialogue. Therefore, building awareness of how our past impacts our present is vital to navigating through life in healthy relationship with oneself and others.
Within my integrative frame I also incorporate transpersonal psychology, energy psychotherapy and sound therapy to support mind-body-soul integration. These innovative therapies encourage the individual to experience themselves as grounded, connected and more fully present in their bodies. Consequently, tapping into this ‘felt sense’ experience allows the individual to become more available for listening consciously to their body’s messages and what is being manifest in their system.
Working with yourself in this way will support you to begin to build a relationship with yourself on a multitude of levels and layers which in turn opens you up for healthier and more harmonious interactions with yourself and others both personally and professionally. By engaging with yourself and getting to know yourself at relational depth, you will begin to feel more confident and self-empowered, more in tune with yourself and your environment, thereby attending to your needs and in doing so, recalibrating and resetting your unique system leading to homeostasis within the entirety of your being.
I have experience of working with a broad range of mental health issues: bereavement, relationship difficulties, work related difficulties, childhood/developmental issues, building confidence and self-esteem, anxiety, stress, depression, trauma and existential concerns. Whether you are experiencing general problems such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem or a specific problem related to trauma, relationship difficulties, bereavement or life changing circumstances, I believe that together we can support you to explore your concerns and difficulties so that you gain a better understanding of yourself with a sense of increased wellbeing.
Counselling and Psychotherapy provides a unique and safe space for you to explore and work through current difficulties with a practitioner who is able to provide secure emotional holding and support. Hence, working collaboratively and empathically to explore your feelings, thoughts and personal experiences which currently impact you in order to alleviate and manage distress is key to supporting you to develop new and effective ways of coping with difficult feelings, situations, circumstances and behaviours.
My specialism is providing individual therapy for young people and adults. I have a particular interest in working creatively. Another area of interest is the transpersonal, thus supporting individuals to develop their self-reflexivity skills so that they can engage authentically with self-and-other from a place of conscious awareness.
