Couples Therapy Couples and Marital Therapies involve partners actively working to address issues within their relationship. These services largely involve joint meetings, as well as some individual sessions, and typically target relationship concerns and needs, as well as adjustment to life situations. Our therapists employ different therapeutic approaches, including systemic therapy and Emotionally focussed Therapy (EFT). Systemic Therapy is an approach used either with families, couples or individuals which understands psychological difficulties within the context of social relationships. It explores meanings of the difficulties within these contexts and sees them as 'attempted solutions'. Change is seen as possible within the system of the client’s relationships. Emotionally focussed Therapy (EFT) is an approach which looks at adult relationships and attachment. It included elements of systemic therapy. EFT aims to facilitate the creation of secure, lasting bonds between partners and reinforce any pre-existing positive bonds, with the goal of helping the couple increase security, closeness, and connection in their relationship.
