Child Therapy Child therapy is best described as therapy that focuses on one child's needs in the areas of behaviour, emotion, growth, or skill development. Our child psychologists are highly specialized and trained to support the needs of your child and family. We specialise in working with children over the age of five. Our therapists will work with you and your child to determine the cause of the presenting difficulties, and create a safe space for your child to feel understood. They use a number of different approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focussed therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, family therapy, and/or parenting guidance. Child therapy services include help with adjustment to school or life situations, coping with loss, anger, temper tantrums, depression, anxiety, stopping self harm, low self-esteem, stress, facing trauma or grief, communication problems, social exclusion, family break-ups, managing a medical illness, sleeping difficulties, bed-wetting, eating and food-related problems. These services, while individual, may involve work with others, particularly when there are behavioural concerns (i.e., bedwetting, sleep problems, compliance issues, school-related concerns).
